Gipsy Kings Santa Barbara
Bowl
$54.50 – $84.50
www.sbbowl.com
When asked
why they started playing music together as
teenagers, the Reyes brothers (Nicolas, Canut,
and Paul) of the Gipsy Kings summed it up
with a simple answer: “We liked to
watch pretty girls dance.” That simple
and honest explanation continues to drive
the infectious music of the Kings who create
a melting pot of musical styles that include,
but are not limited to, rumba, salsa, flamenco,
reggae, funk, and pop. Their annual stop
at the Santa Barbara Bowl always turns into
a huge dance party where even the rhythmically
challenged can find a groove of their own
and provides the Gipsy Kings with a cheerful
eye-full.
